Lex Orandi Liturgical Resources.

Lex Orandi has been created as a source for Liturgical Information and Resources reflecting the historic use of the Western Church. This heritage is common to churches of the Augsburg Confession, the Anglican Communion, and the Roman Catholic Church.

The Augustana Rite, a daughter of the historic Western Church, has inherited this liturgical tradition, because the Augsburg Confession retained it where doing so did not compromise the Gospel.

Most liturgical pre-Vatican II handbooks have come out of the Roman Church, but the Anglicans and Lutherans have also made significant contributions.

Lex Orandi is the result of many years spent studying the liturgical heritage of the Western Church. It is published here to make it available to those who might share a similar interest in things liturgical, or who are looking for a more detailed description of the historic Western use.

The information is, perhaps, more complete than you might think is necessary. It is not intended to be normative, just comprehensive. Use what you find useful, and hold the balance in reserve for future reference.

Questions, comments, and suggestions are welcome. If you wish to contribute material for these pages, feel free to submit it for review. Perhaps these pages can developed into a web journal for liturgical studies.
